Dubshed 2013, Part 1

by James Preston
9th April 2013 · Northern Ireland

Each year, the island of Ireland's car community is blessed with Dubshed. It's their largest Volkswagen & Audi group ( VAG ) car show to hit it's shores each year. Now in it's 4th year, Dubshed seems to just get better and better each year - and always sets the standard for upcoming show season. Even if VAG isn't your thing, it's still the show of the year to attend.

People from all over Ireland spend the months leading up to the show, even the entire year in some cases preparing their cars to show off at this exclusive show. Cars from all over England, Wales and Scotland even make the trip over, and these visitors grow each year as the show gains more and more publicity and tracton.

This year, again we were proud to say we were one of the headline sponsors of the show. Providing media coverage. This includes our hugely popular teaser video we posted a few weeks back, as well as online marketing and of course a video on the day which you will see in the next couple months.

Over the past year, the guys at GTINI have been putting in long days and long nights of work to make the show run absoutely smoothly on the day - which it did. We were a tad scared the snow we'd been experiancing for the past few weeks was going to contiune on and put a downer on the day, but the sun broke through and we experienced one of the best week's of weather Northern Ireland has seen so far this year. I'm starting to think GTINI Team and the weather have some sort of deal going on here...

This year again was full of surprises - with the focus being on the brand new main exhibition hall that was added to the show. This brand new hall really up'd the status of the show, but Dubshed still kept to its roots by keeping the orginal halls from the past three years.

Outside housed another massive selection of cars, inlcluding Northern Ireland BMW's first appearance at the show. Not VAG, but invited along for the day. The normal scrap a jap made an apperance again this year, along with a new trials bike show, fire and resure live simulated extraction demo - which saw a Mazda MX8 get it's roof cut off, while two of our PR girls were inside! There was also the popular RC cars from Titantic dubs and of course, all the hugelly popular trade stands - including JK Autospares, Revo, Kleen Freaks, Blackwater Graphics, Lowerks and PMG Autocare to name a few.

Our trade stand also made an appearance. But since Dubshed got even bigger this year, we decided to do something a bit special - and put on our very own ILB Dubshed Cinema. Here we had a chill out zone where spectators could come, take a seat on our sofa, bean bags or bucket seat chairs and watch some of our ILB films from the past 3 years. We also previewed our new Year 3 recap video ( online in the next few weeks ), and a part of our Ultimate Dubs 2013 video. And if that wasn't enough, we even gave out free popcorn to all those who stopped by. We were overwhelmed with the response, and would like to give a huge thanks to everyone who came by. And of course to those who bought some merchindise from us - we aplogise to those who didn't get what they were looking. We managed to sell out of 2 sizes of hoodies, 3 lanyard colours, and a few different type of stickers.

Also on our stand was two non VAG's, my very own Volvo c30 - and Niall O'Dowd's fantastic Mini.

We hear one of the last counts had over 4000 spectators coming along on the day. Another hugely popular event run by the guys at GTINI, who run the show out of their pure love for cars and the community here in Ireland. And if you missed it - I hope our photo coverage does the show justice.

I'm sure GTINI would like to thank to all those who attended, and all the helpers on the day. And to those who bought raffle tickets to win the Lupo GTINI are giving away in aid of Children's Hospise chairty. The winner for that will be drawn in September, at Titantic Dubs.

This is the first of our two part coverage. The other will be available later this week.
